Shea Butter comes from the nut of
the African Karite Tree Butyrospermum parkii . The nuts are processed by traditional methods in local
communities providing valuable incomes for women and children. The tree does not
fruit until it is 15yrs old, so the trees providing these nuts may be more than
100 yrs old. These trees are valued and protected in communities because they generate
a continual source of income. Shea Butter is prized for it's skin softening and
highly moisturising properties. Shea Butter is rich in Vitamin A & E, contains natural sunscreening properties and is used to speed
wound healing or where there is cracked skin. |

Health Revisited makes Aromatherapy Massage Bars and Natural Soap utilising the
benefical properties of Shea Butter for the skin. We choose to use Unrefined
Shea Butter in our products as it has a higher nutritional profile
than the refined butter. Although the refining process produces a lovely white butter
it also destroys valuable constituents. . |

Palm Oil & Coconut Oil to produce a moisturising Soap Bar.

high quantities of Shea Butter producing a Natural Soap comparable to the traditional
soap made by African Tribes. The Shea Butter is combined with high quality vegetable
oils and pure essential oils to produce classy Aromatherapy Natural Soap Bars. |
In his article Peter Novett (2005) states why there is a growing demand for Shea
Butter Body Care,
"New markets for shea butter exist in the personal care industry. The main reason
for this growing interest has been the recognition by the cosmetics industry (and
its consumers) of shea butter's therapeutic benefits-ultra-violet light protection,
anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, regenerative, anti-eczema and anti-wrinkle properties-due
to the presence of a significant fraction of unsaponifiables (3-12%) that includes
many bioactive chemicals, e.g. triterpene alcohols, phenols, sterols and the polyisoprenic
hydrocarbon karitene". |
|
Health Revisited Aromatherapy Massage Bar contains a high proportion of Shea Butter.
The Massage Bars can be used daily to moisturise skin.
